"Be Negative" HIV & HCV Awareness Campaign

The "Be Negative" HIV/HCV awareness campaign was to convey the message of HIV and HCV prevention, the importance of staying safe and of protecting yourself, and of building a safer sex culture within the gay community.

In the Campaign, YouTube was tapped to screen videos to advocate HIV awareness, safer sex, and HIV testing. The videos received tens of thousands of views. Comments from someone seeing the video and passing it on within his network making the videos go viral on the internet.

Syphilis Awareness Campaign

The nine-month campaign was developed to enhance awareness on HIV Syphilis among the gay community. Syphilis testing promotion was included in the campaign.

The ten-month campaign was a continuation of the 2006 "Do it Safely Campaign". It consisted of three phases:

  1. 1st phase: Zero Infection
  2. 2nd phase Zero Drug Abuse
  3. 3nd phase : Zero Hopelessness

MSM HIV Awareness Campaign - "Do it safely"

The nine-month campaign consisted three major phases:

  1. HIV awareness programme,
  2. safer sex promotion, and
  3. HIV testing promotion.

To bring about the core message "Be proud of your safer sex practice", various publicity channels were used including placement of e-banners in gay websites; advertisements in popular gay magazines and gay venues, and programmes in gay-friendly radio channels, etc
